Musical Connections: Cordelia Williams & Tamsin Waley-Cohen – RYE ARTS FESTIVAL

In the light of the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 8th September, and as the country enters a period of national mourning, the Rye Arts Festival events scheduled to take place over the next few days have been cancelled. The Trustees are meeting on Friday 9th September to make a decision on future festival events at this very sad time. Where events are cancelled full refunds will be made.

Musical Connections: Cordelia Williams & Tamsin Waley-Cohen – RYE ARTS FESTIVAL

Two star soloists come together in an exciting new partnership: we are delighted to welcome pianist Cordelia Williams (“extraordinary”; “profound”) and violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen (“mesmerising”).

Their programme is unusual and highly imaginative, exploring the connections between J. S. Bach and Arvo Pärt before treating us to three musical gems by Claude Debussy and Robert Schumann’s passionate Sonata No. 2 in D minor.

Bach: Duo Sonata No. 4 in C minor

Pärt: Fur Anna Maria (solo piano)

Bach: Three Part Inventions in C major and F minor (solo piano)

Pärt: Spiegel im Spiegel

Bach: Prelude in C major (solo piano)

Interval

Debussy: Minstrels; Il pleure dans ma coeur; La fille aux cheveux de lin

Schumann: Sonata No. 2 in D minor
