In the light of the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 8th September, and as the country enters a period of national mourning, the Rye Arts Festival events scheduled to take place over the next few days have been cancelled. The Trustees are meeting on Friday 9th September to make a decision on future festival events at this very sad time. Where events are cancelled full refunds will be made.
Piano Recital: Cordelia Williams – RYE ARTS FESTIVAL
CMF Alumna Cordelia Williams brings us an emotionally profound sequence of music taken from her award-winning 2021 album Nightlight.
From Tomkins to Schubert, via jazz pianist Bill Evans, these works recognise the shifting qualities of night time and the solace found in music.
“Extraordinary… Williams unapologetically takes her place among the most eloquent exponents of this great work in recent years.” Gramophone
Thomas Tomkins: A Sad Pavan for These Distracted Times
Bill Evans: Peace Piece
Schubert: Sonata in C minor D958
Interval
Brahms: Three Intermezzi op. 117
Schumann: Songs of Dawn
