From an early age CMF Artist Toby Hughes was determined to pursue a career as a soloist playing an instrument more familiar to most people in its role at the back of an orchestra or a jazz band.

His education has placed him at the vanguard of the solo double bass movement and we are delighted to welcome him to Rye to play string pieces by Desenclos, Clara Schumann and César Franck. He is joined by acclaimed pianist Benjamin Powell in this stirring programme for Double Bass.
