The Varlies | LIVE @ The BYC
Based in and around the Tunbridge Wells area, The Varlies were first formed back in the early 90s by guitarist, Kev Amos and singer, John Whitehorn. Completing the full line up, they were later joined by Steve Mealing on Bass, Paul May on Drums and Carl Ebbage on Keys. Whilst performances with the full band up are now rare, they continue to entertain audiences and listeners alike with their own blend of music and infectious live shows in various guises.
‘Local and Live’ creator and promoter, Paul Dunton Says…”
The Varlies are quite simply one of the best live bands I have ever seen. With sublime musicianship and infectious melodies, this is a band that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion and always have fun on stage! Expect everything from high energy anthemic tunes, sublime grooves and hire wire guitar riffs, to beautifully crafted ballads and atmospheric acoustic arrangements. All of which are superbly crafted with exceptional, soaring vocals and a true passion to bring the art of live performance to another level for both themselves and their audience.”
Vocalist John Whitehorn says…
“We’ve been around a while now and have always shared a great respect for each other as both friends and musicians. Whether playing our own songs or trying to put our own unique stamp on others, we have always loved performing live together and meeting new audiences. We have clocked some high milage over the years with many shows and I continue to feel very privileged to still share a stage with these wonderful people.”
With the trio line up booked for Thursday 23 rd June, the band are very much looking forward to coming to Rye and performing at the great ‘Brewery Yard Club’ and hope you can join them for an evening of the live stuff.
